The secret trails of the Mercantour

From the Vallée des Merveilles to the 3000m summits, our pick of exceptional trails to run between sea and mountain.

Why the Mercantour changes everything

Less than two hours from the sea, the Mercantour National Park offers one of the most varied trail-running terrains in Europe: larch forests, high-altitude lakes, mineral ridges and summits over 3000 metres. It's that contrast that makes every outing unique.

Three trails worth knowing

  • The Vallée des Merveilles: between millennia-old petroglyphs and glacial lakes, a route steeped in history (regulated area, guided outing required).
  • The tour of the Nice hills: perfect for linking city and mountain, with sweeping views over the Baie des Anges.
  • Climbing a 3000er: Mont Ténibre or Mont Clapier, for experienced runners after a real summit.

Run responsibly

The Mercantour is a protected area. Stay on the trails, carry out your waste, and respect the wildlife - chamois, ibex and marmots live here.
